Wind Energy (North Rhins) Limited is 100% owned by AES European Wind Generation.
AES expanded into wind in 2004, leveraging our proven capabilities and more than 25 years of experience in originating, financing, developing and managing power projects all over the world.
Today AES Wind Generation operates more than 1,200 MW of capacity with a global workforce of more than 300 people.
Construction is underway to build 410 MW of new capacity, all of which will come online by the end of 2010. These projects are in Bulgaria, China and Scotland. At that time our global wind operating capacity will be more than 1,600 MW.
AES Wind Generation operates, acquires and develops greenfield projects, often with local partners. Wind Energy (Services) Limited is such a partner: a renewable energy company dedicated to the sensitive development of wind farms in Scotland. The Wind Energy developments are majority owned by subsidiaries of AES Corporation.
Wind Energy has been assessing potential sites across Scotland since 2002, securing the opportunity to develop wind farms on sites that it has assessed to be viable from a number of perspectives described in this website.
