Environmental Impact » Landscape and Visual

During the early spring and summer of 2006 extensive field and desk studies of the area surrounding Broad Moor and Craigenlee Fell were undertaken to assess the impact upon landscape character and on visual amenity.

Over 50 potential viewpoints ranging from between 0.5km and 35km were identified and agreed with Dumfries and Galloway Council and Scottish Natural Heritage. These include views from important local tourist attractions, sites of historic interest, key public highways and other areas of local importance. The impact of the development of a wind farm at North Rhins was assessed from each of these viewpoints under different lighting and weather conditions.
