North Rhins

We began our search for potential wind farm sites in 2002 and have been investigating the North Rhins site since 2004.

The high ground at the site has exceptional wind resource with consistent winds blowing in from across the Irish Sea. This makes it a very efficient place to locate a wind farm. In less windy locations, the energy yield from turbines would be lower and more turbines would be required to deliver the same amount of electricity.

A wind farm proposal often attracts considerable local interest and sometimes causes concern to people. As a responsible developer it is our job to develop a scheme that is sensitive to the local environment and one that will be a good neighbour to the local community for years to come.

Our plans for a wind farm have been influenced heavily by environmental and technical constraints, site visits, ecological studies that we have carried out and meetings with key consultees including Dumfries & Galloway Council and Scottish Natural Heritage.
